What you get

What a marketing retainer here includes

Six things that are true of every programme, whichever tier you buy.

One number, agreed up front

What a qualified enquiry is worth to you, and what it currently costs. Every decision afterwards is argued against that figure rather than against sessions.

Measurement before spend

GA4, Search Console and conversion tracking are configured and verified before the first campaign runs, so month one has a baseline instead of a guess.

The accounts are yours

Google Ads, Meta Business Manager, GA4 and Search Console stay in your name throughout. If you leave, the history leaves with you, that is the point.

A named specialist, not a pool

The person planning the campaign is the person you speak to. On the Growth tier that is a fortnightly call; on Essentials it is a monthly report you can actually read.

Search and paid planned together

The keyword that is expensive to buy is often cheap to earn, and vice versa. Splitting them across two suppliers is how a business ends up paying twice for the same click.

No auto-renewal

Minimum terms are stated once and never roll. If the programme is not working, the honest conversation happens at the review rather than at a cancellation deadline.

How it works

How a programme starts

  1. Define a good month

In your words first, then in numbers: enquiry volume, what a customer is worth, close rate, and how long the sale takes.

  2. Audit what exists

Current tracking, current spend, current rankings. Half the time the campaign is fine and the measurement is not.

  3. Agree what success looks like

Before anything launches, in writing. A campaign that cannot be judged in advance is activity, not strategy.

  4. Run, read, change

Monthly reporting with a recommendation attached, including, sometimes, the recommendation to stop.

Why OveliTHub

What we will tell you that you may not want to hear

Your budget may be the wrong lever

If a page converts at half what it should, more spend simply buys more of the same loss. We would rather spend the first month on the page and the offer than on impressions.

SEO is slow, and anyone promising otherwise is selling something

Paid gets you enquiries this quarter while organic compounds behind it. Deciding which of those you are buying is most of the conversation.

Some keywords are not worth winning

Ranking for a broad term with no buying intent produces traffic, a nicer chart and no revenue. We will argue for the smaller term that converts.

The number the programme is judged on

Traffic is the easiest number to move and the least useful to be judged on. Every programme here starts by agreeing what a qualified enquiry is worth to your business and what it currently costs to get one. Once those two figures exist, most arguments about channels answer themselves.

Measurement comes before spend

GA4, Search Console and platform conversion tracking are configured and verified before a campaign runs. This sounds like admin and it is the difference between month two being a decision and month two being an opinion. It is also where a surprising share of “the campaign is not working” turns out to be “the conversion was never recorded”.

Search and paid, planned as one

A term that is expensive to buy is often cheap to earn, and a term that will never rank organically can be profitable to bid on. Running the two through separate suppliers is how a business ends up paying twice for the same visitor. Both sit in one plan here, against one cost-per-enquiry target.

What the retainer covers, and what it does not

The fee covers the work: research, campaign build, copy and creative, landing page recommendations, optimisation and reporting. It does not cover advertising spend, which you pay directly to Google and Meta from your own accounts, so the incentive to recommend a larger budget is not built into how we are paid. Starting figures for all three tiers are on the offers and pricing page.

When marketing is not the answer

If the enquiries are arriving and nobody is answering them inside a day, more traffic makes the problem worse rather than better, that is a support desk question. If the page the advertisement points at was built for a different audience, the fix is the page. We will say which of those we think it is before proposing a retainer.

Why most retainers fail in month three

Marketing team reviewing an integrated digital marketing campaign plan together
A marketing retainer usually collapses at the point where the reporting stops matching anybody’s experience of the business.

A marketing retainer usually collapses at the point where the reporting stops matching anybody’s experience of the business. The dashboard says impressions are up; the phone has not rung any more than it did. Both are true, and the argument that follows ends the engagement.

Preventing it is unglamorous: agree what a lead is before the first campaign, make sure the thing counting them agrees with your own records, and report against that one number. Everything else is diagnostic.

Digital marketing, in practice

  • One agreed definition of a lead, checked against your own records
  • Advertising spend paid by you, directly, from accounts in your name
  • A named specialist, and a monthly report that names what changed and why

See GA4 and the ad platforms for how measurement is set up, and the ManCave Shopping campaign for what feed quality does to performance. Google’s own guidance on conversion tracking covers the mechanics.

How this work usually starts

Marketing work starts with the definition of a lead and a check that the thing counting them agrees with your records. Until those two match, every optimisation is being made against a number nobody has reason to trust.

Two things keep a retainer honest: one agreed number, and a monthly report that explains what moved it. Neither is difficult, and the absence of either is what ends engagements in month three.

FAQ

Digital marketing questions

How much does digital marketing cost?

A retainer starts at $300 a month, in US dollars, on a 3-month minimum. By channel: Meta advertising from $300, TikTok advertising from $300, Google advertising from $350 and Local SEO from $550, each per month. Running more than one channel raises the figure, and the retainer is agreed in writing before anything runs. Advertising spend is excluded and paid by you directly to the platforms.

Why is there a minimum term?

Because search and paid channels need time to produce data worth acting on. Three months is roughly the point at which a decision can be made on evidence rather than on noise. Nothing renews automatically afterwards.

Do you take a percentage of ad spend?

No. The retainer is the fee, and ad spend is paid by you, from your own account, directly to the platform. That also means the incentive to recommend a bigger budget is not built into the pricing.

Who owns the ad accounts?

You do. Google Ads, Meta Business Manager, GA4 and Search Console are in your name; we are granted access and that access is removed when the engagement ends.

SEO or paid ads first?

If you need enquiries this quarter, paid. If you need the cost per enquiry to fall over a year, organic. Most businesses run both, and the useful question is the split, which is a question about your sales cycle, not about the channels.

What does the reporting actually show?

Enquiries, cost per enquiry, and what changed since last month, with commentary. Impressions, sessions and rankings are in the appendix, because they are diagnostics rather than outcomes.
